Membership Eligibility
Can I become a Maps member?
Our roots may be in education, but Maps Credit Union is a federally insured financial institution that welcomes anyone who lives or works in the Willamette Valley basin. That includes the contiguous counties of Marion, Polk, Linn, Benton, Yamhill, Clackamas, Washington, and Multnomah. So, you are eligible for Maps membership if:
- You live or work in one of the counties listed above.
- You are related to someone who is a member or is eligible to be a member. This includes parents, spouses, children, stepchildren, grandparents, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, half-siblings, aunts, uncles, and domestic partners of eligible members.
- You have been a Maps member at any time.
That’s it—there’s no catch. We also welcome businesses, non-profits, and organizations in those counties. We are happy to provide a full range of financial services from personal and business banking to lending and investments to anyone in the areas we serve.

Every Penny Counts
When you open a Free Community Checking account, you become a part of our giveback plan. Every time you swipe your debit card, Maps will donate a penny from that transaction back into the community—at no cost to you. With this simple and highly impactful penny-per-swipe model, our members play a key role in our community-giving efforts and have a direct impact on their communities.
And those pennies add up! Since its inception in 2012, the Maps’ Free Community Checking program has accounted for over $1 million in funds that went directly back into the community. It’s also a driving force behind the Maps Community Foundation which aims to enrich the lives of members and our community by investing in education, economic empowerment, and community vibrancy.
